Jane Margo- Editor/Publisher State Street News

The State Street Renegade was established in the midst of a new president taking office. This election of 2016 was the catalyst that led to many controversial changes in America. Most of them not very popular and many people are disgusted and fed up with division and the polarized socio-political climate.

America and freedom are not just for the filthy rich and the militarized industrial complex. It’s for every U.S. citizen first and the world second. America is all people’s land. In politics and the news, we hear about “Wall Street” and “Main Street” but there has not been a Street that (in my mind) stood for people’s rights and the pursuit of happiness. So I established “State Street” as that designation. State Street is everyone’s street. State Street is where America’s heart lives — even for the militarized industrial complex and the rich people.

The thought of freedoms lost as the freedom of speech or rolling back Privacy Protections, Planned Parenthood, and downplaying women’s health issues, and now the damage being created by the White House was something I could not accept.

“Renegade”, the last part of the name stands for those socially conscious individuals to take some action, break away from the pack and the rhetoric, and see the truth for what it is. Merriam-Webster defines renegade as; a deserter from one faith, cause, or allegiance to another or; an individual who rejects lawful or conventional behavior.

Now, nobody is condoning breaking any laws. But it does bring into question where one’s sense of truth and justice is. It’s about breaking away from the status quo of political rhetoric and hyperbole, corruption, lies, injustice, crimes against humanity, and anything that goes against the good will of this world.

The State Street Renegade intends to give a voice for those marginalized and pushed out into society’s fringe trying to make the world better. That solution was this magazine. The creative world is the voice and this magazine is the messenger.
